mi VDO FX Digital Video Cam Is Sure To Boost Your YouTube Views

Anyone can post a video of pretty much anything to YouTube but if you’re hoping to rack up the views and number of times your clip gets ‘favorited’ you better make sure your video is something special. So while we’re seeing quite a few digital video cameras specifically designed for making web-ready videos (translation: sub-NTSC quality) I don’t think any of them will be able to compare to the mi VDO FX.

You see besides having the ability to record a soundtrack directly from an iPod or MP3 player while filming and on-the-go editing the mi VDO FX also includes 18 built-in special effects to further jazz up your production. As to what these effects are I have no idea, but given the images on their website I assume we’re talking about black & white, sepia, negative and other real-time filters. So if the video of your dog chasing it’s tail seems to have gone unnoticed on YouTube try shooting it again with the mi VDO FX’s negative filter, I guarantee it will hit the site’s front page in a matter of hours.

As for useful features the mi VDO FX includes 4x digital zoom, has a 1.5-inch color LCD display and uses SD cards with support for up to 2Gb versions.

Knowhere Cosmos Clock

Knowhere Cosmos Clock (Image courtesy Generate)

Like many people I’ve got friends all over the world that I talk to on a regular basis but sometimes I’m afraid to call or message them because I have no idea what time of the day it is where they live. So I could definitely use something like the Knowhere Cosmos Clock which is designed as a quick and easy way to figure out what time it is in different cities all over the world.

The clock face has the 24 hours of the day mapped out around the edge with midnight being at the 12 position and noon being at the 6 position. The hands of the clock each graphically represent 8 major cities around the world through the use of famous landmarks. (Including Paris, New York, San Francisco, Sydney, Shanghai, Tokyo and London.) Each silhouetted landmark points to the current time in the city they represent ensuring you’ll never get someone out of bed again by accidentally calling them at 3 in the morning.

The Knowhere Cosmos Clock is available from Generate for $79.

JOBO Digital Photo Frame With 1GB Of Storage

JOBO Photo Display (Images courtesy JOBO)

A company called JOBO has just announced a couple of digital photo frames and their PDJ701 model actually ships with a half-decent 1GB of memory on-board. Sure it’s not exactly gigantic when you consider we’ll soon be seeing 32GB SD cards but compared to all the other digital photo frames on the market it’s a nice change of pace.

The Photo Display as it’s called has a ‘better than most’ 7-inch, 800×480 pixel LCD screen and that 1GB of memory can actually be expanded with support for a wide selection of memory cards like CF, SD, MMC, MS and xD. It even includes a rechargeable lithium-ion battery for those times when you don’t have access to AC power.

The JOBO PDJ701 will be available for about $179 but there’s also a slightly cheaper model, the PDJ700 which only includes 128Mb but will sell for about $159.

Lamponi Vespa Lamps

Lamponi Vespa Lamps (Images courtesy Lamponi's Lamps)

I’m not sure if classic Vespa lovers will love the design of these Lamponi lamps or hate the fact that parts from these rare motorcycles have been used to make desk lamps. Either way the retro stylings of the Vespa motorcycle’s handlebars and headlights definitely give these lamps a unique look.

And since each one is hand-made by artist Lamponi Leonardi the lamps can be fully customized to your specific needs or tastes when ordered and as a result range in price from about $1,700 up to $2,000. So the thrifty among us might try to hunt down an old Vespa at the junkyard and try to build our own instead.

Richard J. Solove’s Rolls Royce collection fetches $14.3 million

rolls royce auction

A few months back, we were talking about a Rolls Royce auction by the 82 year-old real-estate developer Richard J. Solove, who is well-known for his collection of Rolls Royce cars. He was to auction off 13 of the 14 Rolls Royce cars in his collection for the betterment of mankind and he expected to generate $15 million or more with this auction. Now, the auction has ended and the 13 cars were sold for $14.3 million. Eight cars, including all the Silver Ghosts except for one, were bought by billionaire Houston trailawyer John O’Quinn. The auctioned money will be given to the Arthur G. James Cancer hospital and its affiliates to aid cancer research.
