Replug Breakaway Headphone Cable Is Interim Genius

Replug

ReplugIt happens all the time: you’re rocking out under a pair of headphones, practicing your kickboxing routine or ballroom dancing moves at 3am, and just as you’re in the middle of a jab/uppercut combo or a pirouette, your headphones are rudely ripped from your skull thanks to the cord attached to your computer. Or worse, your iPod gets tossed into the next county. You’d think there would be a simple solution to this problem, and there is… A magnetic headphone connector. It’s much like the magnetic power plug you find on newer Macs: if the cord gets jerked, the magnets simply separate, sparing your electronics and head a lot of grief. The Replug is an adapter that sits right between your headphones and audio jack, and will fit just about any 3.5mm connectors.

ReplugIt’s genius. So why interim? Well, I’m pessimistic about cables in general, or rather, I’m optimistic about the progression of wireless tech. Whether or not it breaks away without jerking you around, cables are still an annoyance, and they’re so close to being obsolete what with bluetooth, high bandwidth WiFi, and wireless power all on the verge of being universally practical. In the meantime, though, Replug can be yours before the end of the year for an undisclosed price (but probably cheap).

The BlackBerry Pearl 8130 Offers Video Recording

This hot off the press news from The Boy Genius Report is kinda a big deal in my world. Research In Motion (the big wigs of BlackBerry) have just announced that the BlackBerry Pearl 8130 features an updated visual interface and lots of wonderful new features. The new and improved Pearl comes with a 2.0 megapixel camera that includes video recording capabilities—something my iPhone doesn’t even have! You can even choose which resolution you want to capture your video with for easy sharing via MMS. Also included is the built-in GPS—our BlackBerry prayers have certainly been answered! Whirlpool Puts Espresso Maker in Fridge Door

Whirlpool 20RI D4 Espresso (Image via Whirlpool)Man I reallly need one of these

I have seen some weird convergence items before, but this side-by-side refrigerator makes a bit of sense. It is a bit odd to get something hot from a refrigerator, but aside from that putting an espresso maker into the door of a refrigerator is sort of cool.

The Whirlpool 20RI D4 Espresso should be available in January of 2008 at an unspecified price. The fridge is large with about 12 cubic feet of fridge storage and about 7.5 cubic feet of freezer space. You will need a large kitchen to use this refrigerator.

I prefer to get my caffeine intake in the form of soft drinks so I would have been more impressed if Whirlpool put a soft drink machine in the door. Still, adding a coffee maker makes more sense than putting a TV in the door like LG has done.

Mushroom Lamps – Extra Light Yes, Extra Life No

Mushroom Lamps (Image courtesy Brando.com.hk)

Since I’ve already posted something for the Star Wars fanboys today I guess I should do the same for the Mario fans as well.

These Mushroom Lamps are powered by 2 white LEDs on the inside and are turned on and off by simply pressing on the top. They’re also cordless and require 4 AA batteries which should last quite a while given they’re only powering 2 LEDs.

Brando.com.hk is currently selling them in red, blue or green for $12 each.

Ferrari Unica Home Gym

Ferrari Unica (Images courtesy the Ferrari Store)

In addition to the obvious Ferrari tie-ins this Unica home gym was actually designed in-house by a team of training experts at the Technogym Research Centre. The machine provides over 25 different exercises and is easy to use even for beginners thanks to the included ‘Wellness Mate’ computer which will guide you through a pre-set training program. But of course the real reason most people will buy the Unica is all the Ferrari-related details that have gone into it.

This version of the Ferrari Unica comes in the most traditional Prancing Horse colours, colours that have adorned thousands of Ferraris and helped make them instantly recognisable throughout the world. The leather trim of its padding is beige, just like classic Ferrari interiors, while the gym frame is Racing Red, the definitive Maranello colour.

The innovative design called for equally avant-garde manufacturing processes and a highly-skilled workforce. Just like the cars themselves, the frames of the Ferrari Unica gym are subject to cataphoresis anti-corrosion treatment prior to being painted for a perfect, long-lasting finish.

And like with an actual Ferrari all that attention to detail doesn’t come cheap. The Unica Home Gym is available directly from the online Ferrari Store and will set you back about $17,700.
