Sony Ericsson announced a new portable music phone under the Walkman name Sony made famous in the 80’s with yellow cassette players. The W890i is a music phone Sony says is a thin as a CD case. The phone comes with 26MB of memory onboard and supports Memory Stick Micro (M2) sticks for storage expansion.

The phone can work on EDGE, GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz, HSDPA and UMTS 2100 MHz networks. Two color choices will be offered including mocha brown and sparkling silver. The phone measures in at a mere 4.1-inches x 1.8-inches x 0.4 inches in size and weighs only 2.8 ounces. GEAR4 BlackBox Bluetooth Speaker System

Bluetooth Speaker

While silver and white have made tremendous inroads in the gadget world, I still prefer black when it comes to my electronics. So needless to say I’m quite fond of this BlackBox portable speaker from GEAR4. And while you might consider the hidden LED graphic EQ to be the icing on the cake, I’m actually more impressed that it uses an A2DP bluetooth connection to stream music from your phone or iPod (which requires an extra bluetooth sender dongle of course.)

The BlackBox from GEAR4 is a super-stylish Bluetooth stereo speaker system that combines exceptional audio performance and cutting-edge design. It features a hidden LED display that comes to life with your tunes and touch screen controls, so that nothing detracts from its elegance and minimalist style. With its distinctive deep gloss finish the BlackBox will fit perfectly into any room of the house. Mobile phone compatibility is assured via its firmware upgrade feature – simply link the speaker up to your computer to download the right profile for your mobile.

It’s currently available directly from the GEAR4 website for about $210 and includes a remote control and custom carrying case.

Reebok Timetanium With Graphics By John Maeda

Hot Sneaks!!

If you’re a graphic designer type, you’re probably already familiar with the work of John Maeda, or at least should be. For those who aren’t, he’s a world-renowned graphic designer and computer scientist currently working as the Associate Director of Research at the MIT Media Lab. A lot of his work has a very mathematical almost high-tech Spirograph look to it, and you can see some of those designs worked into this custom pair of Reeboks.

Based on the Reebok Ventilator, the Timetanium not only sports graphics based on John Maeda’s original algorithms and computer code, but the inside of the shoe is even lined with his own hand-written calculations.

I would almost be tempted to grab a pair when they’re released on the RbkCustom website on November 13 if not for the fact that Reebok is only making 100 of them, which means they’re unfortunately not going to come cheap.
