2008 limited edition boxster

So, you don?t have enough money to buy the third edition Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet. Don?t worry as another Porsche, the 2008 Limited Edition Boxster is coming your way with a base price of $49,990 while the higher-performance Limited Edition Boxster S will set you back $59,990. Painted in eye-catching orange shade, which we saw earlier on 911 GT3 RS, the car enjoys the SportDesign package that adds front spoiler lips, a new automatically extending rear spoiler, and vaguely altered rear trim.

You can bring those sporty looks by adding standard 18-inch black alloy wheels (19-inch for the Boxster S) and additional black natty pieces on the exteriors. The interior trim pieces have been given some touches of bright orange to bring a harmony between the interiors and exteriors. Both the models will be out on September 28 and only 500 units will be made.

Third edition Porsche 911 Turbo cabriolet coming soon

porsche 911 turbo cabriolet 1

For sports car enthusiasts all over the world and in particular, the Porsche fans, the all-new third edition Porsche 911 Turbo cabriolet will be hitting the roads shortly. The top speed of 193-mph puts the roadster in the list of fastest road cars. The car stuffs in a twin-turbocharged 480-hp, 3.6-liter power plant delivering 473bhp at 6,000rpm and 457lb ft of torque at just 1,850rpm. Its six-speed manual gearbox gets the car to 0-62mph in just four seconds and in case, you go for the £1,800 Triptonic gearbox, you can expect that to be accomplished in 3.8 seconds.

The car has a high-pitched 12 speaker Bose sound system, leather upholstery, a wind deflector and rollover bars to ensure a drive. The optional Sports Chrono Package Plus features a dashboard-mounted stopwatch. The only hitch with the sports car is that its fin doesn?t activate unless you are doing 75-mph. Anyway, the Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet will set you back £106,180.

Sanyo Launches Backup Camera System for Vehicles

Sanyo Rear View Backup Camera (Image via Sanyo)
By Shane McGlaun

Sanyo announced a new rear view backup camera system today that drivers of large vans and SUVs will find appealing. I drive a large vehicle and it is impossible to see what is below the glass and close to the bumper. Anyone that lives in a neighborhood with lots of kids or has kids themselves knows that many little ones are not tall enough to see from inside a big vehicle if they are close to the bumper.

Sanyo’s new CCA-BC200 Rear View Backup Camera System with AirCam technology uses digital processing to deliver accurate and natural looking images of what is behind you. That means you don’t have to look at strangely distorted fish-eye type images.

The only bad part about this system is that a monitor for viewing the video feed isn’t included, nor is a monitor an option. The Sanyo system relies completely on the fact that many vehicles have onboard displays for DVDs and GPS navigation. If your vehicle lacks a display of some sort you will need to add one for the Sanyo system to work. Pricing for the camera system is $299.99 and it is available now.

However, the 2007 HTT Locus Plethore is such a ruthless fiend unleashed by designer Luc Chartrand, that it?d take the automotive industry by storm with its ?750 hp? or ?1300 hp? versions.

Lincoln Prototype With Disappearing “Caterpillar Doors”

Caterpillar Door

Imagine yourself in a sexy black 1993 Lincoln Mk 8. You’ve just snagged the last parking space in front of Starbuck’s, but oh no, there’s a Hummer parked on one side of you and (wait for it) a Hummer parked on the other side of you! How ever will you open your door? Apparently, Ford execs were grappling with the same critical issue and commissioned Jaalta Design Inc. (who still own the many patents covering its mechanics) to develop the doors on this prototype :

I know “caterpillar door” makes no sense, but what are you supposed to call this besides whatever the opposite of “butterfly door” is? Both sides of the car feature these doors, although currently only the passenger side is operational (via the keychain fob). The other door is kind of jammed, but could technically be kicked coaxed back into life. The rest of the car is in pretty good shape with 43k on it. Needless to say, it’s one of a kind, but it’s up for grabs right now on eBay at $20,000 (reserve not yet met).

Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe auctioned off for $1.6 million

rolls-royce-phantom-drophead-1_48
Sometimes, I feel like these charity auctions have become more a show than fundraisers. Leave this aside, a Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe was lately auctioned off for $1.6 million in order to raise funds for the Elton John AIDS Foundation. It?s a great jump for any charity auction if we talk about the actual pricing of the roadster, which falls between $400K and $500K. The Phantom Drophead Coupe is power driven by a 6.75 liter V12 engine that pumps out 453 horsepower and 531 pound-feet of torque. And, if you are interested in vintage Rolls Royce cars, a real-estate developer Richard J. Solove, who is well-known for his collection of Rolls Royce cars, will auction off 13 of the 14 Rolls Royce cars.
