DH1 Disaster House: A home away from home for hurricane victims

dh1-disaster-house_48

Want to take your home with you wherever you go? You need to take a look at the DH1 Disaster House built by California architect Gregg Fleishman. Made from sustainable European birch with phenolic resin finish on both sides, the 14-foot-square structure can be assembled in no time without the need of nails or fasteners. Perfect for those who live in hurricane affected areas, the floor of the Disaster house is 30 inches off the ground. But, it?s not completely waterproof, so you might need a plastic or canvas to wrap it. And yes, don?t forget to tie it to a concrete slab in all the four directions. The price tag of $22,000 for this nifty creation is certainly a lot to the hurricane victims but it might come down if they use some less exotic materials.

Lustrous Luxe rocks for the luxury homes

luxe-rocks_48

This is, what I think, another unique way to add to the lavishness of your luxury home. Designed by Italian designers, these lighted rocks by Oluce will just make your lawn look like something from a distant planet. The Luxe rocks have been crafted from weather-tested polyethelene. These lighted Oluce stones glow with the abet of a screw-in fluorescent bulb. Priced at $316, they can be had by special order only and that too in ?large quantities.? What does this mean? I simply have no idea but the Luxe rocks are the ultimate thing for exterior lightscaping.

The $200K Alexandria loudspeakers don’t even look like speakers

wilson-audio-alexandria_48

Wilson Audio has earned itself a name as one of the top luxury speakers? manufacturers. The new Wilson Audio Alexandria Loudspeakers do deserve a place in the list of top 10 luxury speakers with its whopping price tag of $200,000 and an inimitable make. The uncanny looks of the loudspeakers somehow resembles the leg of a Transformer. The loudspeaker uses upper frequency driver modules that adjust linearly to optimize time alignment while each of the modules rotate on its polar axis to pull off optimal driver dispersion for multiple listening positions. With the manufacturers popping out luxury speakers like rabbit popping out bunnies, I think I will have to make another list of top 10 luxury speakers very soon.

Corian Z Kitchen Island takes you to the 23rd century

z-kitchen-island_48

DuPont Corian is well known for its wide range of residential, commercial, furniture and specialty applications. Their latest offering, the Z Kitchen Island looks like something out of Star Trek and makes us feel like we are in the 23rd century. Designed by Zaha Hadid, the Z Island offers a futuristic, sensory-responsive kitchen environment. Very much like the musical cooking system, it is loaded with all high-tech accessories, including LED touch panels in the surface of table, a Mac for multimedia tasks, and three strange-looking aroma devices that turns out a range of scents. It also features a wall cladding system integrating special equipment with sophisticated sound and light diffusion capabilities. The central cooking area touts an innovative heating plate that keeps food warm for a long span of time. Pricing for the Z Kitchen Island begins somewhere over 8 grand. It?s hard for me to find the write words to appreciate the design but I must say it?s cool, literally!
