Rare Nintendo World Championships Gold up for grabs at $15,000

rare nintendo game

When you are a collector, you pride yourself on owning the rarest of the rare. And if you happen t be a Nintendo fan, your just took and unbelievably turn for the better. Check this out: a rare limited-edition game that Nintendo put out for NES in 1990, called the Nintendo World Championships Gold, is up for grabs on eBay. One of the Only 26 Gold Nintendo World Championship carts were ever produced and just 12 of them have been known to have survived till date. Which means that unless you can find one of these in your uncle Larry’s secret stash in grandma’s attic, you had better start counting the money in your piggybank right now cause the starting bid has already been set at $15,000 by the gaming pimp who put it up for auction. Hope you’re eligible for a personal loan at the local bank.

Things on Wheels Coming to XBox Live Arcade This Summer

Racing Games: Seen one, seen ‘em all, right? With the new format of Burnout Paradise totally blowing my mind, I thought innovation would take a backseat for a bit while we got used to a new way of playing racers. Little did I know that game developer Load had something up its sleeves. In a partnership with Xbox Live Arcade, Load will be letting us in on what is sure to be a big Summer hit: Things on Wheels.

Things on Wheels lets you control your very own RC car through a big and shiny art deco mansion, avoiding obstacles and hazards like stacks of magazines in the living room and oven coils in the kitchen as you race from room to room. And it’s not just me that’s geeking out about the concept. Game publisher Southpeak Games saw the potential too: “Competing with real life remote control cars is great fun, so why not do it in a video game? ToW delivers the same reckless thrill,” says CEO Melanie Mroze in a company announcement.

Who didn’t love racing remote control cars when they were kids? Only now we can finally do it in the house without hearing it from mom! Expect to see Things on Wheels to hit XBox Live Arcade sometime this Summer.

dreamGEAR Launches Wii Soft Sport Kit

dreamGEAR Wii Soft Sport Set (Image via dreamGEAR)

dreamGEAR announced a new Wii accessory today called the Wii Soft Sport Kit that includes soft foam bat, golf club, and tennis racket. Bonus items in the kit include a Wii fan to help keep your system cool and a Wii remote glove to give you a better grip.

Any parent who has played Wii Sports with a couple kids can tell you that after a while, someone usually ends up getting bashed with this sort of sport kit. The good part about this is that when one gamer bashes another with the soft foam equipment the likelihood of someone being harmed is much less. Plus next time my hands slip while playing Tiger Woods maybe the TV won’t get killed. The price for the kit is $34.99 and it is available now.

Happy 7th Birthday Sony PS2!

Sony PS2 Consoles (Image via Sony)

Today the Sony PS2 turns seven years old. Since the PS2 was introduced on October 26, 2000, Sony has sold 120 million PS2 consoles. That is only a drop in the bucket when compared to the amount of PS2 software Sony has moved at a whopping 1 billion pieces. The PS2 continues to be a popular choice for console gaming even with newer systems like the Wii, Xbox 360 and PS3 on the market.

The PS2 also helped establish the DVD format with its ability to play DVD movies as well as video games. Sony is trying this same trick with the PS3’s Blu-ray player with less success. Sony says it originally planned the PS2 to have a 10-year lifespan and with the way the console continues to sell, Sony says the PS2 may exceed its life expectancy. The PS2 currently has a library of almost 1500 games and that number is expected to grow with 160 titles coming for the PS2 between now and March 2008.

Battlestar Galactica Arcade Game (Image via BSGArcade)

I am a big Sci Fi fan and one of my favorite TV shows of all time is Battlestar Galactica on the Sci Fi Channel. I was really bummed when I heard this was the last BSG season, almost as bummed as I was when I was a kid and the original series was cancelled.

Today Sierra Online and the Universal Pictures Digital Platforms Group released a Battlestar Galactica space combat game based on the TV series from the Sci Fi Channel. The game is available for both PC and on Xbox LIVE Arcade. The game supports up to 16 players on PC and up to 8 players on Xbox. A single player game is also included.

Players can choose to play as a Cylon or as a human and players can also choose different ships and 10 missions from the TV series for the single player game. Four human ships and four Cylon ships including the Viper II and the Cylon Raider are available to pilot. Battlestar Galactica is rated E 10+ by the ESRB and will be available at retail outlets and by download for $19.99.
