FlapFlap Falling Lamp Confuses Your Dog

FlapFlap Lamp

By Evan Ackerman

I’ve always liked objects that make you stop in your tracks and ask “what the heck…?” This lamp certainly qualifies. It’s suspended from nothing at a jaunty angle, constantly a few tenths of a second from smashing into bits. My guess would be that it’s actually being held up by a hidden support in the cord, but for all I know it’s black magic. If you want one, it’s a limited edition from 2001 from Hopf & Wortmann, so good luck finding your own, but it’s an easy (albeit brief) DIY with a normal lamp and a fast camera.
